$64,000.00 Question 15 September 2007
Can you improve your school based ranking in the final HSC exam?
The short answer is a definite yes!
The way to do this is to present an outstanding performance in the final externally marked exam.
Intensive, very useful practical sessions covering all 6 sections of the final two exams are available through Jonathan Hardy and English Mastery prior to 20 October 2007.
It is suggested you book early. This is 1:1 tuition so there are just a few limited opportunities before vacancies close. "First come first served."
Best Wishes

14 August: Tip 5: You are nearly there! But don't stop yet!
While this may sound a little idealistic it is true to say that the end is in sight.
Many schools have just completed their trials. Naturally feedback from the trials allows students to steer a productive course into the final exams.
"The edge" of knowing it is nearly all over often acts as a helping hand.
Some words of wisdom from a previous student..." Don't cruise too much after the trials. This is where management decides which students will consolidate their position."

No tyre kickers!
As a result of a half-serious conversation with a colleague and as a result of some years of experience as a psychologist I remind year 12 that terms 2 and 3 are no dress rehearsal. Their performance right now matters. So no tyre kickers. You really must make a decision to work right now. Somehow.
Mind you as a psychologist I was supposed to communicate in a lot softer fashion than telling people to get on with things. Not sure the softer option always worked though:)

English Mastery Newsletter May 1 2007
Dear Parents and Students
Welcome Back to Terms 2 and 3, certainly the most challenging in the HSC year yet with the promise of the end in sight. The ‘edge’ that exists is a positive element as it can act as a lever to pursue optimum results. The onset of adrenalin defeats procrastination.
We follow a tried and proven formula that has worked for the past 5 years. It culminated in last year’s results. We attained two near perfect UAI scores. These echo Sally Ivimey's brilliance of 99.9 and Dux of school in 2005 (no problems with choice here!)
