Easter Newsletter for Parents and Students from English Mastery
Newsletter 2 Term 1 2006
27 March 2006
Dear Parents
This is a brief end of term newsletter. There are several pertinent points of which I wish to ensure you are aware.
1) Indisputably a large number of students have received outstanding results in term 1 2006, especially those in year 12. Congratulations to those students as well as their supportive families! I know we can expect this trend to continue if commitment is sustained.
2) High marks are nearly always the result of hard work balanced with self-care. They rarely materialise through luck! Last year’s top results speak for themselves. I know the UAI of 99.9 came through hard work NOT genius!
3) I wish to stipulate that English Mastery is essentially about getting results and higher marks, and of course along with that a fulfilling experience for the student. Please understand that where I do consider students are not gaining from their tuition I will of course be informing parents and suggesting that they review whether students should be here and/or what they need to do differently!
4) Without wishing to over amplify my agenda I am passionate about teaching English to young people, utilising my experience as a school psychologist and making a real difference to students’ education.
5) A reminder about fee increases as mentioned in the February newsletter.
6) From May 1, 2006 Years 7-10 remain @ $65.00 per hour. Students beginning after 31 January have been @ $100.00 per hour for year 11 and 12, hence this is already in place. Continuing students from 2005 will be $80.00 per hour as of May 1, Term 2, 2006. Please feel free to ring me if there are any queries!
7) If students with to have their work edited/marked by email or fax 3 days turn around time is required. Last minute efforts create unnecessary pressure for student and teacher.
8) A brief reminder. I do actually teach relevant syllabi for year 11 and 12. It seems that schools are under pressure and cannot always complete the task despite the best efforts and outstanding dedication of their teachers.

Regards and best wishes for a pleasant Easter break balanced with recreation and work.
